Butterflies to Breakup

What is the worst way to break up with someone? This is one of the many questions that is addressed when thinking about the do's and dont's of any relationship. You want my opinion? Well here it is...DO
be honest. DON'T breakup with someone in a text message.

To many of you, that obviously seems like common sense, but let me tell you...at the age of 22, I never expected my almost one year relationship to be ended by a short text message. I always believed that the lowest form of disrespect was cheating on your boyfriend or girlfriend, but recently I'm starting to see that the breakup text plays a very close second.

This breakup brought on a whole different type of hurt that I've never experienced in any other past break ups. It wasn't a heartbreak kind of hurt, it was more of a painful feeling of disrespect. If someone is willing to shoot over a quick text to end a relationship, then not only are they a coward, but they are certainly not deserving of your heart! I flash back to one of my favorite movie lines from "That Thing You Do" when Faye says to Jimmy: "Shame on me for kissing you with my eyes closed so tight"

I would always dream of my happily ever after as prince charming would sweep me off my feet. I was a true believer in following my heart. Never in a million years did I believe that just one text message would make me realize that it's not just about following your heart, but you also have to use your head...because settling is not an option.

So here I am at a crossroad in my life, trying to find myself again...as a confident and independent woman. I never regret anything because I feel you can learn from any situation....so I am picking up
the pieces of my heart, putting it together like a puzzle and getting ready for the next chapter in my life.

So word to the wise....if you're going to breakup, don't do it in a text. We all know how much it sucks to breakup with someone, but at least have the decency and respect to talk it out, not type it out.
